About The Role

Role responsibilities:

Trading:

  • Manages intake, deliveries and capacities for own area using company overview strategy as necessary.
  • Using information from reports and recommendations update HOM on action ensuring a timely follow through.
  • Ensures ad hoc analysis is identified and produced by the team in a timely manner.
  • Actively works in conjunction with Buying to identify and manage risk within department.
  • Responsible for own departments WSSI and is fully aware of balance between sales, stock & commitment.
  • Works with vendors ensuring forward stock forecasts are in place taking into account appropriate lead times.
  • Is able to identify opportunity and risk within department and take appropriate action.
  • Manages and challenges OBT on department, seeks best solution with Buying and ensures necessary action is taken reflecting current trade.
  • Uses daily sales to take appropriate action to protect departments bottom line informing team and relevant departments of actions and outcome.
  • With Buying protects margin by instigating relevant stock movements to limit risk.
  • Responsible with the Buyer for smooth running of critical path and life cycle of a product for department working closely with Buying and other functions to ensure departments risk is minimized.
  • Can appraise solutions and is confident to advise benefits and pitfalls of solutions to team.
  • Ensures ad hoc analysis is managed and appropriate action taken. Has total responsibility for managing the planning.
  • Ensures bigger trade picture is communicated to own team to ensure effective communication with Planning & Logistics to ensure departments trading strategy is potentialised.
  • Has full responsibility for monthly trading summary and product commentary ensuring team works closely capturing issues and solutions concisely.

Planning:

  • Responsible for departments planning ensuring team are working with all relevant departments and following the deadlines as indicated by the Planning Calendar.

     

    Commercial Trend Knowledge:

  • Undertakes visits to DC, Branches and competitors with team and other functions to gain a commercial trading view.
  • Leading store visits in absence of line manager offering constructive comments to issues raised and follow up if necessary.
  • Is aware at all times of company and department targets and current trading and can contribute in a commercial discussion.
  • Ensure that own awareness is shared and communicated and demonstrate a knowledge of product areas broader than own department.
  • Ensures knowledge on competitor activity is comprehensive and up to date and communicate to wider business.

Team Management and Development:

  • Manage workload and delegate effectively.
  • Able to gather information to make better informed decisions.
  • Provide support and guidance to team.
  • Assist with recruiting.
  • Is able to manage workload in accordance with business needs.
